Behavioural FM Requires More Than Reminders

Service outcomes depend on systems, education and feedback

An evidence-informed hand-hygiene model hosted by IFMA combines system change, education, reminders and feedback to support behaviour at scale.[11]

Analysis

The lesson extends beyond hygiene. Posters alone cannot compensate for inaccessible supplies, confusing processes, weak supervision or missing feedback.

Osmos Global analysis: behavioural FM interventions should identify the required action, environmental enablers, friction, reinforcement and measurement. The service system and user behaviour must be designed together.

Leadership implication: recurring non-compliance may signal a poorly designed system rather than an awareness deficit.

Decision lens

Recommended action. Diagnose operational barriers before launching another communication campaign.
