GCC Data Standards Should Precede Scale

Multiple delivery models can create one fragmented portfolio

Leased offices, managed campuses and flexible suites frequently use different asset, space, booking and service systems. IFMA's digital-thread guidance identifies fragmented lifecycle information as a source of cost and process inefficiency.[10]

Analysis

Without common identifiers, a GCC cannot reliably compare occupancy, service, energy or asset performance across sites. AI will amplify inconsistency rather than repair it.

Osmos Global analysis: data governance should be part of the property and provider contract. Define the site, space and asset hierarchy; required feeds; ownership; retention; access; privacy and exit rights.

Leadership implications

For digital leaders, the workplace portfolio should be treated as a governed data domain. For CRE and FM, common definitions make benchmarks more defensible. For providers, interoperability and export rights should become normal contract requirements.

Decision lens

Recommended action. Publish a minimum GCC workplace-data standard before onboarding the next building or flex provider.
