Global FM Buyers Want Strategic Partners

Provider selection is shifting beyond unit cost

JLL's Global State of Facilities Management report found that 78% of surveyed organisations prioritised strategic partnership and business understanding when selecting FM providers.[7]

Analysis

The finding suggests that buyers want providers to interpret operational evidence, manage change and connect service delivery to business priorities. Contracts designed only around activity and penalties may not enable that behaviour.

Osmos Global analysis: partnership must still be measurable. Governance should define decision rights, data transparency, improvement obligations, risk sharing and how benefits are validated.

Leadership implications

For buyers, a strategic-provider claim should be tested through governance, talent, data and improvement evidence. For providers, business understanding must translate into decisions and measurable value. Partnership without transparency risks becoming a slogan.

Decision lens

Recommended action. Score providers on operational intelligence and improvement capability alongside commercial competitiveness—and contract for the evidence needed to verify both.
